Northrop Grumman Aeronautics has an opening for a Engineer Material Process 4/10 2nd Shift to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in Palmdale, CA


Summary of Job:

Analyzes, researches, designs and develops materials and their related fabrication and application processes to develop and optimize materials for use in engineering design of and/or application in structures, systems and subsystems. Applies principles of chemistry, physics, and material behavior to develop metallic, non-metallic and composite material and processing specifications, fabrication and assembly processes. Develops, analyzes and applies material properties and design allowables, processing processes and quality engineering specifications. Material analyses may include failure analysis of components, systems and subsystems, life predictions, and definition and requirement specifications. May review and approve subcontractor material processing procedures.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science or other STEM degrees along with 2 years' engineering experience; or a Master's degree in STEM with as little as 3 months of work experience
  • Experience working with sealants, organic/inorganic coatings, corrosion mitigation, and adhesive materials; Fabrication, assembly, and repair processes for aircraft structures
  • This position a DOD Secret or Top Secret Clearance as well as Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
Secret or Top Secret clearance preferred
BS Degree with Mechanical Engineering, Materials Process or Chemistry

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret or Top Secret Clearance as well as Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science or other STEM degree with 2+ years of experience; or a Master's in Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science or other STEM degree with 0+ years of experience; or a PhD in Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science or other STEM degree with 0+ years of experience; or candidate must be majoring in or have majored in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) degree. Degree verification is required prior to commencement of employment.
Experience working with composite pre-pregs, honeycombs, and adhesive materials; Fabrication, assembly, and repair processes for aircraft composite structures.
