Job Summary

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES      1. Coordinate and manage the Cancer Committee comprised of physician leaders within the oncology service line and the various sub-committees. Work with physician leadership to effectively manage committee work and achieve goals.   2. Coordinate and manage Cancer Conferences including organizing, tracking at10dance, recording minutes, and coordinating conference space. This includes the managing the CEU process for the physicians at the conference events.   3. Construct and coordinate continuing education for physicians and other clinicians regarding oncology program and cancer registry requirements and information.  4. Ensure accuracy of Cancer Registry data and compliance with governmental and regulatory body guidelines.  5. Participates with other various stakeholders in marketing initiatives including numerous cancer screenings, wellness fairs, patient and community educational seminars and brochure development.  6. Ensure and manage the facilities compliance with the American College of Surgeons, Commission on Cancer, Texas Department of State Health Services` Cancer Registry division, and other applicable regulatory bodies.  7. Represent the hospital as a Primary Lead for American College of Surgeons (ACOS) and other cancer registry related surveys.  8. Data mine registry information and produce reports on registry data in a meaningful way for decision making. Represent the hospital as an expert subject matter on the information.  9. Drafts policies and procedures related to the oncology program and accreditation for review and approval. Implements approved policies and procedures. 10. Demonstrates the componets of the ICARE values statement.  11. Follows all safety rules while on the job. Reports accidents promptly and corrects minor safety hazards. Communicates with peers and management regarding any hazards identified in the workplace.  12. Performs other duties assigned.      

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS     Associates degree required.  Business or Healthcare related field preferred.    

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS      Cancer Registry experience preferred. Hospital or business project management experience required.    

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED     Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) by National Board for Certified Registrar or eligible obtaining certification within 1 year of employment.    

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED      1. Detail-oriented with the ability to deal with changing priorities and perform multiple tasks simultaneously. 2. Advanced PC proficiency (experience with MS Word, Excel and Access) 3. Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to handle multiple, concurrent projects through to completion. 4. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify improvement opportunities and recommend solutions. 5. Excellent facilitation, presentation, and oral and written communication skills 6. Demonstrates initiative and creativity to continuously improve services, departmental and interdepartmental processes, and any other activities that affect quality. 7. Ability to establish relationships and build rapport with individuals at all levels of the organization.
