Join a global cross-functional Experience Design
team that researches, designs, and delivers awesome hardware and software
solutions for the industrial gas business as part of Honeywell's Safety &
Productivity Solutions (SPS) group. SPS creates solutions serving more than 500
million workers worldwide in the energy, construction, industrial safety,
transportation & logistics, retail, and healthcare sectors.
We are seeking a lead Industrial Designer
who can help us define and develop the next generation of professional and
industrial products that offer desirable, usable and market-disrupting
experiences. You will work directly with Directors from design, marketing, and
engineering and be expected to help leaders across the organization think about
and appropriately prioritize user experience design. We will count on you to
lead projects and represent design to our internal stakeholders and external
customers and of course to coach and mentor other industrial designers. You
will drive the usability assessment and craftsmanship of our hardware. As part
of a global design team you will collaborate with digital and graphic
designers, user researchers, marketing and engineering to produce outstanding
branded, seamless experiences, spanning personal protective equipment (PPE),
gas detectors, mobile computers, and scanners.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead industrial design strategy and implementation for product categories.
Scope, plan, and execute design projects in accordance with an iterative development process.
Maintain a continued understanding of the marketplace, competition, industry, methods, and relevant trends.
Carefully maintain and evolve the Honeywell brand design language in collaboration with the cross-functional team and design leadership, and to align with Honeywell’s overall branded goals.
Attend meetings and maintain close connection with the business team and program management. Stay on top of quickly evolving business objectives with a flexible mindset.
Ensure that product development objectives and schedules are met.
Drive communication of the product’s design intent to manufacturers and work closely and directly with mechanical engineering.
Execute toward a holistic end-to-end user experience approach that extends beyond the product and software use (e.g., purchase, maintenance, repair, etc)
Minimum qualifications:
• Bachelors or Masters or equivalent
qualification in Industrial Design or related.
• 7+ years of experience in industrial
design of products.

Demonstrated experience creating,
developing, and delivering product designs.
Experience working with user researchers
to understand the user’s needs and wants.
Experience creating low-fidelity to
high-fidelity renderings and prototypes.
Experience in working with external
design and development firms.
Experience working across multiple types
of products and platforms.
Advanced experience with industrial
design digital creation tools e.g., 3D CAD programs (Alias, Creo, Rhino,
Solidworks etc.), rendering programs (Keyshot etc), Adobe CS Suite.
Expert in working with rapid prototyping
techniques and shop tools.
Excellent communication, presentation,
and negotiation skills.
People-management experience.
Highly collaborative approach with an
ability to communicate effectively at multiple levels in multidisciplinary
teams to drive design consensus.
Proven understanding of manufacturing and
engineering processes involved in product development. Extensive insight and
knowledge of production methods and materials.
Experience in both consulting &
corporate design environments is a plus.
