The School's aim is to unleash innovation, create opportunities and inspire ingenuity. The Samueli School's faculty members are leaders in their disciplines who have achieved worldwide recognition for their research and dedicated teaching. The School includes six academic departments: Biomedical Engineering; Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering; Civil and Environmental Engineering; Electrical Engineering and Computer Science; Materials Science and Engineering; and Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. Under the leadership of Dean Michael Green (Interim), the School pursues research that is timely, socially responsible and cutting edge, and works in partnership with industry and state and federal agencies to promote the transfer of research to applications that benefit society. Current research thrusts include Communications and Information Technology, Energy and Sustainability, Human Health, and Advanced Manufacturing and Materials. The Facilities unit supports the needs of the School through the facilities management of assigned space in 12 buildings consisting of approximately 400,000 square feet, which includes buildings shared with other Schools on Campus. Under direction of the Director of Facilities for the Henry Samueli School of Engineering, the Facilities Coordinator assists the Director in the oversight, supervision and coordination of facilities operations for all spaces assigned to the School of Engineering. The Facilities Coordinator acts as liaison between campus Facilities Management, Environmental Health and Safety, Transportation and Distribution Services and other campus departments for maintenance, safety and infrastructure services support to School spaces and occupants. The Facilities Coordinator will assist in providing oversight to areas not limited to construction, design, deliveries, security systems, key/lock management, emergency management, space management, moving coordination/participation, custodial/grounds issues and equipment installation. Compensation Range: $21.98 - $27.78 Department Website: Required: Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training. Working knowledge of practices and procedures relating to facility maintenance. Written communication skills to prepare a variety of correspondence, reports, policies and procedures, and training documents. Skills to work under pressure of deadlines in a stressful environment. Active listening, interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills to effectively resolve questions, concerns, issues or problems and ensure cooperative and productive working relationships. Skills to work independently and as part of a team. Working organizational skills to work on multiple projects with competing deadlines, to establish goals and work load priorities, and to meet project deadlines within budget and time constraints. Working knowledge of practices and procedures of safety and emergency preparedness. Skills to utilize Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and design software such as AutoCAD or Bluebeam, including other software. Understanding of laboratory operations and research goals. Ability to make sound decisions quickly in a stressful environment. Ability to work with hand and power tools in assembly and dismantling of equipment, furniture, fixtures and other items as required. Flexibility to respond to requests and emergencies outside set working hours. Experience providing exceptional customer service. Problem solving skills with the ability to contribute suggestions for process improvements. Preferred: Lab or office design skills. Final candidate subject to background check.
