Research Assistant | Brown University - Military Veterans

Job Description: As a member of the Center for Epidemiologic Research, the Research Assistant will assist Project Manager with a number of research related activities. Responsibilities will primarily involve study participant location and recruitment; blood draws / phlebotomy; other occasional tasks will involve additional data collection and data management. Details for each of these responsibilities are outlined below. Work with PI and Project Manager to locate and recruit participants for ongoing longitudinal studies.    60 % Conduct blood draws according to established phlebotomy procedures. 20% Assist with other data collection activities. 20% Job Qualifications Bachelorâ™s degree preferred with 1-2  years of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience considered Trained phlebotomist or willing to be trained to collect blood and prepare it for storage Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, strong communication skills Proficiency in using computers/technology, including MS Office products and databases Experience with data entry Experience conducting structured interviews with an adult population is preferred but not required; willingness to be trained in these procedures Flexibility in scheduling â“ some evenings and weekends required; occasionally may need to travel RI to locate participants Ability to exercise good judgment, follow a structured interview format, and work without direct supervision Must be able to communicate comfortably AND effectively both over the phone and in-person Must be good with people; ability to be at ease with strangers, culturally sensitive, and able to readily establish professional rapport Must be able to both work independently and work effectively in a team Must possess good time management skills Possess a willingness and ability to support and promote a diverse and inclusive campus community Background check required: Education and Criminal This is a fixed-term position with a current end date of 11/30/2021.
