Nurse Practitioner – Orthopedics

Full-time Days

 

Using an expanded knowledge base of pathophysiology and pharmacology, the Department NP provides comprehensive health assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients and formulates clinical decisions in consultation and collaboration with attending physicians.

•  Perform history & physical examinations, dictates H&Ps and discharge summaries

•  Establish medical diagnosis(es) and determine a plan of care for short term and chronic health problems

•  Order, obtain & interpret laboratory tests

•  Order and evaluate interpretation of diagnostic studies

•  Prescribe medications within the NP’s functions and in accordance with departmental and hospital policy

Our services include a Level 1 Trauma Center, comprehensive cancer treatment, advanced surgery including robotic and minimally invasive, orthopedics, heart and vascular care, and complete women's and children's services, including a high-risk antepartum unit and a Level 3 NICU.

 
 
 

Qualifications

What you need to be successful:

•  Master’s Degree required

•  Texas RN license or compact license is accepted

•  Licensed as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner in the state of Texas

•  Certification as an Adult Nurse Practitioner, Family Nurse Practitioner or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner

•  Current BLS and ACLS issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required

•  Two (2) years of NP experience is preferred
