Summary:

Quality Engineer responsible for mechanical and electrical products. Performs routine to moderately complex engineering and quality engineer and inspection functions. Analyzes designs and specifications to ensure efficient, cost effective and reliable quality processes are developed, implemented ,and followed, applying mathematical, physical science, engineering, and statistics. Participates in quality improvement projects ranging from product specific to business processes. Leads or participates on teams to provide quality input for the development, manufacture, and acceptance of products.

Key Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leads or participates on teams to provide quality input for the development, manufacture, procurement, and acceptance of a variety of products
  • Develops and writes procedures and identifies improvements for inspection processes
  • Coordinates the design of product acceptance equipment and the ordering of testers, gages, and equipment to support product acceptance
  • Manages work flow, mentors junior engineers, trains inspectors, performs and assists with quality inspections when required
  • Develops, maintains, and monitors quality processes, metrics, levels, and trends to identify and support improvement
  • Analyzes drawings and specifications to make recommendations to resolve product discrepancies
  • Develops test procedures and performs evaluation tests, capability studies, quality audits, data reviews, and other engineering evaluations utilizing Six Sigma methodology
  • Interacts with customers, suppliers, designers, and others to assist in resolving design, development, production, and
  • acceptance
  • Manages suppliers’ performance and conducts vendor qualification audits
  • Ensures timely resolution of supplier and in-house built component failures, corrective actions and preventive actions

You Must Have:

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an ABET accredited Engineering program or Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from an accredited program.
  • Six (6) or more years' relevant experience in engineering or related technical activities, including review and analysis of drawings and specifications.
  • US Citizenship needed to obtain and maintain required US Dept of Energy "Q" level security clearance.
