Overview: The English Department at St. John Fisher College invites applications for a Visiting Artist-in-Residence who will contribute to the Fisher Core general education program. Area of specialization is open, but preference will be given to candidates who are prepared to contribute to a curriculum and student-focused programming exploring issues of race, equity and inclusion. The position entails a 4/4 teaching load. The candidate will have the opportunity to develop courses for Fisher's Core, for the Arts minor, and for education students to meet New York State Arts Standards. Additionally, the Visiting Artist will have the opportunity to host student and artist exhibits in SJFC's Patricia O'Keefe Ross gallery. Successful candidates will have a strong interest in pedagogy and curriculum design and in collaborating with colleagues in different fields in the context of an interdisciplinary arts program. Applicants must hold an MFA or doctorate by the time of employment. Candidates must demonstrate interest and potential excellence in undergraduate teaching. The School of Arts and Sciences at St John Fisher College serves all undergraduate students through 33 programs, the Core general education curriculum, and pre-professional requirements. Additionally, the School provides all the liberal arts offerings required for NYSED baccalaureate degrees, 60 credits of liberal arts for the BS and 90 for the BA, thus providing liberal arts skills and critical perspectives across a wide range of disciplines.
