HJF is seeking a Clinical Research Assistant II (Part-Time) to support the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation located at the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, VA. HJF provides scientific, technical and programmatic support services to the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. U.S citizenship is required. This position will be 20 hours per week during the standard business day.

This position will support a study assessing the effectiveness of Psychologically Informed Physical Therapy treating active duty service members seeking outpatient care for musculoskeletal disorders.

Responsibilities:
  1. Serves as liaison between the NYUGSOM researchers and NMCP to include coordinating routine investigator meetings and maintains meeting documentation. (10%)
  2. Completes required regulatory training and credentialing as well as assists with preparation of IRB materials. (10%)
  3. Assists with the logistics for training physical therapists to include preparing training materials. (10%)
  4. Performs administrative duties such as: maintaining progress notes; research logs of subjects approached, recruited, and consented; and maintaining manual of operations and procedures. (30%)
  5. Assists with the preparation of manuscripts, reports, and presentations including editing and formatting documents. Distributes manuscripts and reports to all scientific collaborators as required. (10%)
  6. Recruits and consents patients, prepares research materials and questionnaires to include established process for administering follow up questionnaires; and Observe and document training of the intervention arm Physical Therapists. (30%)
  7. May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to understand and utilize scientific/medical terminology and research theory in both oral and written communications; Ability to use measurable and verifiable information for making decisions or judgments; Skill in statistical interpretation and data analysis using statistical software and/or spreadsheets and database software applications; Excellent organizational and project management skills.

Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree is required.

Minimum Experience/ Training Requirements: 3-5 years of relevant work experience required.

Work Environment: Set in an office and clinic work environment.

Background/Security: U.S. citizenship required; eligible to obtain and maintain a Tier III Investigation/ Secret Clearance and Common Access Card (CAC).
