Shift: Part-time

Position Description: Prepares the surgical suite / clinical area, supplies and equipment to ensure safety for patients and personnel.

  • Individualizes preoperative planning and preparation for surgical intervention to meet the needs of each patient and his/her surgeon

  • Prepares the surgical suite / clinical area, supplies and equipment to ensure safety for patients and personnel

  • Assists with the surgical procedure

  • Adheres to the Association of Surgical Technologist Code of Ethics

  • Contributes to an environment that is conducive to clinical education of surgical technology students

Qualifications

Required Registration, Licensure or Certification
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) verification course, as specified in policy
Preferred Registration, Licensure or Certification
  • Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) from NBSTSA
Required Education or Experience
  • Graduate of an approved school of surgical technology
Preferred Education or Experience
  • Previous experience performing surgical technologist duties in an obstetrical setting
Required Knowledge and Skills
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively
  • Knowledge of accepted operating room standards and practice
  • Knowledge of instrument names, types and uses
  • Knowledge of electric video operative field equipment
