Job Summary:
Disassembles, cleans, assembles, sterilizes, and stores procedure trays, instruments, equipment and supplies according to prescribed procedures and aseptic technique under direct supervision. Completes requests to dispense equipment and supplies and maintaining department inventory.  
  • Assembles all instrument procedure trays and kits according to the prescribed manner using content lists as a guide. 
  • Dispenses products requested for sterile and non-sterile equipment and supplies.  Assigns priority to emergency requests and issues required supplies and equipment based on knowledge of procedure intended
  • Assembles instrument trays and supplies according to established aseptic technique.
  • Disassembles and cleans equipment such as suction machines, IV monitors, heating pumps, wheelchairs and walkers using approved disinfectants, detergents, soaps and cleaners. 
  • Replaces lost or damaged parts such as tubes, containers and connectors from stock on hand.
  • Examines sterilization/expiration dates on procedural trays and kits; cleans shelves and work areas and mops liquid spills from floors as necessary.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Current registration as a CRCST with a minimum of one year experience in an acute care hospital
  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of aseptic techniques and procedures, sterilization techniques and procedures, infection control and work flow principles and requirements, equipment and supply processing; demonstrates and exercises responsible judgment to provide necessary supplies and equipment for patient care.
