Manufacturing Heat Technician 2 (2nd Shift) - Military Veterans

This is a Heat Treat Technician position supporting the heat treat operational functions at Northrop Grumman, Commerce. This functional group performs physical and mechanical manufacturing and verification of spaceflight hardware fabricated for aerospace applications in accordance with company and industry processing standards.
Primary responsibilities of the position are as follows:
  • Perform heat treat operations on Titanium and Titanium alloys using a mixture of air and vacuum heat treat furnaces per defined planning operations and company standards
  • Prepare, instrument, load, and unload hardware for heat treat operations
  • Support furnace uniformity studies and temperature validation testing operations in compliance with company standards
  • Prepare mechanical samples for mechanical testing to validate performance requirements
  • Support cleaning and preparation activities to ensure heat treatment is perform per internal specifications and standards
  • Support and engage in compliance to company standards for Safety, Quality, Delivery, Employees, and Cost
  • Operate a fork lift and crane systems to support heat treat operations
  • Validate cleanliness operations in accordance with company documentation requirements


Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

High School Diploma OR GED and a minimum of 3 years' of Heat Technician experience required
•
Expertise in thermal instrumentation (thermocouples), heat treat execution and troubleshooting, and electronic data acquisition.

Experience in handling and processing aerospace flight hardware
•
Ability to read, write and interpret written instructions, blueprints, or shop drawings in English
•
Demonstrated ability to learn new skills and follow written procedures
•
Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement with a focus on customer service excellence
•
Ability to work flexible hours, overtime, and weekends as needed based on demanding manufacturing schedules
•
Ability to be certified for crane operations per company standards
•
Ability to be certified for fork lift operations per company standards
•
Must be able to work within established procedures for data control
•
Initiative, self-starter, adaptable, and high motivation for excellence
•
Ability to work under supervision
•
Strong attention to detail
•
Ability to escalate problems to appropriate management
•
Excels in a team environment
•
Lifting of heavy objects (50 lbs+) is required
•
US Citizenship Required

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with heat treatment of Titanium and Titanium alloys in compliance with Aerospace Industry Standards (AMS-H-81200 or equivalent) a plus
