Position Overview:

The Neurodiagnostic Technician performs non-invasive cortical neurophysiological testing with minimal supervision, in accordance with physician¦s orders and historical information.  Testing includes inpatient EEG testing in all areas of the hospital including NICU/ICU, WADA, and outpatient testing including routine and ambulatory.  They may also be asked to provide break relief for the EMU tech at the monitor station.  They must be skilled at working with all age groups.


Education / Certification / Registration / Licensure: 

  • A high school diploma required. 
  • Training in a Neurodiagnostic educational program or an Associate's degree in Allied Health/EEG Technology preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Registered Electroencephalographic Technician - R-EEGT preferred or willing to take R. EEG T. exam within a year of hire
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare provider certification obtained through the American Heart Association is required.


  • A minimum of three to five years significant experience in an acute care setting, performing procedures on infant, pediatric and adult patients preferred.
  • A minimum of three to five years previous experience in performing EEGs preferred.


  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology, of the neurology system. Knowledge of electroneurologic testing and associated equipment.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with TJC (The Joint Commission) accreditation standards.


  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment and take appropriate actions in volatile situations.
  • Must be able to understand, read and write the English language.
