Position responsibilities include:
- Ensure safety and health programs areimplemented, managed and effective for all Live and Agri-Business facilities
- Develop, implement and maintain a safetyculture that drives continuous improvement to prevent injuries and incidents
- Maintain required records in accordance withregulatory such as PPE, facility inspections, training certifications, correctiveactions and audits
- Submit all required regulatory reporting
- Conduct hazard assessments and providemitigation guidance in accordance to established business practices
- Investigate accidents and incidents toidentify their root causes, trends and to determine how they may be preventedin the future
- Communicate action plans to facility managersand directors
- Mentor personnel on safe work practicesresulting in operational excellence
- Conduct and create awareness and recognitionactivities
- Create an effective safety team that isproactive in preventing injuries and illnesses
- Attend safety and environmental continuingeducation and specialized training
- Attend regulatory visits at all Livefacilities
- Closely work with the Medical Department forsafety reports and investigations
- Demonstrate knowledge of FDA, USDA, OSHA and EPAlaws
Qualifications:
- Bachelor'sdegree in Occupational Safety, Safety & Health, Environmental Science,Industrial Hygiene or related degree
- 10years' experience in safety & health management field working in amanufacturing, industrial, consumer packaged goods or distribution setting
- OSHAregulatory knowledge
- Strong knowledge or requirements of 29 CFR1910 (Occupational Safety and Health Standards)
- Knowledgeableregarding safety approaches with PSM safety practices
- 30Hour OSHA General Industry Certificate
- Abilityto:
- Work in various climate conditions including extreme heat and coldenvironments
- Work in all weather conditions outside
- Walk, stand and sit for long periods of time
- Climb stairs and lift to 50 pounds
- Administer CPR in the absence of a nurse
- Make and deliver training presentations
- Handle multiple priorities and meet critical deadlines
- Travel overnight approximately 25% of time
- Travel daily to visiting facilities
- Work weekends when needed
- Work in various climate conditions including extreme heat and coldenvironments
- Strongcomputer skills
- Excellentverbal and written communication skills
- Displaystrong problem solving, organizational and analytical skills
- Priorexperience with self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA)
- Mustbe able to pass physical to work with the Hazmat team
- Previousexperience, exposure or knowledge of the following is a plus:
- Ergonomics
- Fire codes
- Life safety codes
- Workers compensation, EEO and ADA employment and labor laws
- OSHA 300 forms
- Ergonomics
