As part of this growth, we are searching for a new member to join our team as a Fleet Operations Manager at our Millsboro Complex in Millsboro, DE. The primary responsibility of the Fleet Operations Manager is responsibility for overall DOT and FMCSA compliance to ensure we are aligned with all local, state and federal regulations. Accurately maintain driver/vehicle records including but not limited to driver qualifications and motor vehicle reports, drug and alcohol testing (Federal Clearinghouse), and valid licenses and registrations. This position also includes working closely with the Transportation Manager and Fleet Maintenance Manager to ensure hours of service compliance, including tracking all vehicle accidents and both driver and vehicle violations; as well as, staying current on changing laws and regulations related to DOT/CSA.

Responsibilities include:
  • Responsible for the purchase/sales, registration, inspections and maintenance of all vehicles and equipment assigned to departments/divisions of Mountaire Farms
  • Implements and monitors a preventative maintenance program to assure cost effective maintenance and a scheduled maintenance program to provide maintenance by manufacturers specifications
  • Monitor a complete inventory system through recording of all expenditures and income of each vehicle, maintenance equipment, fuel, repair parts, supplies, etc.
  • Monitor user departments by analysis of vehicle and equipment utilization and evaluation of equipment specifications. Provide safety training to comply with OSHA regulations
  • Assists in the development of the Fleet Services budget to include a review of past year expenses and income; adjusts and administers all Fleet Service purchases, including parts, tools, office supplies
  • Responsible for Fleet Safety. Investigates vehicle accident investigation, chairs accident review board, and presents facts to the Mountaire Safety Board.
  • Insure that all vehicle license plates and fuel tax stickers are acquired prior to expiration date on all company owned vehicles
  • Investigate vehicle accidents and present facts to the Mountaire Safety Board. Monitor CSA scores and conduct regular internal DOT audits.
  • Has knowledge of how to prepare fuel tax reporting and insures that quarterly reports are submitted by transportation department with remittance to appropriate agencies
  • Responsibility for garage operation to include vehicle maintenance support for dedicated fleet and operations
  • Oversee the sale/auction of used vehicles
  • Manage and maintain positive vendor relationships with equipment and parts suppliers

Qualifications include:

  • Degree in Business Administration is preferred or 10 yrs. or more of progressive experience in transportation operations of which 3 yrs. at management level
  • Automotive maintenance background preferred
  • Management experience
  • Knowledge of federal motor carrier regulations
  • Good writing skills
  • Formal training in F.M.C.S.R.
  • Service and Equipment Purchases Negotiation Skills
  • Knowledge of dispatching is a plus
