The Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center (AUTEC) Mission support program provides operations, facilities, and maintenance support for the Navy with locations in Florida and the Bahamas. Come join the team that's supporting America's Navy!

Amentum is seeking an EHS Technician in Andros Island, Bahamas to work as part of a close knit team, as well as independently, to accomplish a range of functions as you support AUTEC. As a member of the team you will:
  • Report directly to the Autec EHS Manager and supports all AUTEC activities that include the Range facilities, Vessels and crews, Helicopters, Dive Team, etc.
  • Develop, coordinate, and implement the Amentum Environmental Health and Safety Program at the project site level.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory activities and requirements, identify and mitigate physical and procedural hazards, implement safety training as directed.
  • Be responsible for ensuring prompt incident reporting and investigation, developing and monitoring corrective actions, conducting work area inspections and assessments, pollution prevention and control, and record keeping.
  • Develop competency and working knowledge of AMENTUM safety management standards to continuously improve the AUTEC safety program. Assist the EHS Manager with implementation of company safety initiatives.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of key regulatory standards including 29 CFR 1910, Bahamas Final Governing Standards, OSHA Hazard Communication Standard, etc.
  • Ensure AMENTUM injury management guidelines for treating occupational injuries are strictly followed through coordination of local medical facilities and AMENTUM safety leadership. Conduct professional incident investigations and provide guidance to site management toward appropriate corrective actions.
  • Help coordinate and execute an effective safety training program for all employees to address required training as well as training for specific hazards related to the type of work performed.
  • Facilitate pre-task planning for workers such as Job Hazard Analyses and Task Hazard Assessments.
  • Provide coaching and guidance for supervisory personnel to promote ownership of safety program expectations and performance.
  • Ensure reporting of all incidents within 1 hour of knowledge of the occurrence through the AMENTUM incident reporting system (IndustrySafe). Coordinate employee's early return to work with the treating physician per company policy and guidelines.
  • Provide weekly status reports to the EHS Manager.
  • Walk work areas daily and monitor workplace conditions, pre-task planning, and PPE usage.
  • Advise supervisory staff on AMENTUM safety management policies, procedures, and directives.
  • Help coordinate and support supervisor safety training programs targeted to reduce employee injuries and lost work time.
  • Promote AMENTUM safety culture and motivate all employees and supervisors to participate in safety improvement activities. Develop and guide program safety committee.
  • Help conduct and document monthly workplace inspections to identify hazardous conditions and regulatory non-compliance issues.
  • Facilitate and support an employee recognition and rewards program for contributions to safety excellence.
  • Help prepare and submit EHS related contract CDRLS. Coordinate the activities of personnel who may be collecting and testing gas, fluid and/or solid material samples for environmental and Hazmat compliance programs
  • Perform all other position-related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Requirements

  • Must currently work on existing AUTEC contract in order to be eligible for this position.
  • Must be a U.S citizen.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S government security clearance.
  • High school or GED required.
  • At least 2 years' experience in Environmental Health and Safety practice with a demonstrated record of achievement
  • Valid passport and Driver's license required.
  • Must be able to reside in remote location with limited medical facilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current Secret security clearance preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science or related field is preferred.
  • Professional certification/accreditation (CSP, CIH, OHST, CHST, etc.) in the safety field is desirable.
  • OSHA 30 and/ or OSHA 10 certifications preferred but not required.
