GENERAL JOB SUMMARY: Seeking a part-time Learning Facilitator is responsible for facilitating the content of our evening welding continuing education certificate classes for adults, ages 18+. The facilitator must be an expert in Gas Metal Arc Welding Short Circuit Transfer, welding symbols, blueprint reading, and basic fabrication concepts. The facilitator will have knowledge of tools, skills, and resources used in a modern welding environment and familiarity with AWS testing requirements. The facilitator will work with minimal supervision to ensure all students meet the objectives of the course, provide exemplary customer service through positive class interaction, maintaining a clean, neat, inviting and safe learning experience. Lead- regardless of title, through positive influence. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Available Monday to Thursday, 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm. Demonstrate and facilitate learning of GMAW Short Circuit Transfer. Facilitate welding symbols, common blueprint symbols, and fabrication math concepts. Evaluate student welding ability and competency in preparation for AWS testing. Determine material needs for welding classes and relay requests in a timely manner. Support workforce development PACE initiatives. Effectively communicate with participants and Continuing Education Staff. Clean and straighten classroom before and after each class. Answer questions and provide resources as appropriate to participants. Complete all required paperwork as requested by Continuing Education Staff. Comply with Kirkwood Community College COVID-19 protocols Perform other related work duties as assigned. Occasional (10-33%) standing, pushing, pulling and grasping. Frequent (34-66%) reaching utilizing art equipment and other types of close visual work. Constant (67-100%) sitting, walking, repetitive motion, talking and hearing. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Available Monday through Thursday, 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm. High school diploma required. Associates degree in welding or equivalent work experience. Experience with modern welding methods and techniques, specifically GMAW Short Circuit Transfer. Experience with fabrication concepts and math principles. Experience with common advanced manufacturing tools (torque wrenches, measurement tools, and computer systems). Experience with basic computer skills. Knowledge of manufacturing industry policies, procedures, and terms. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS : Four year degree preferred, not required. Iowa teacher license preferred, not required. Substitute License, Para License or working towards an education degree preferred, not required. Manufacturing industry credentials such as NIMS, AWS, etc preferred, not required. OSHA 10 or 30 certifications or similar backgrounds preferred, not required. Fork truck certification preferred, not required.
