Senior Director, Communications - Military Veterans

Position Purpose: The Senior Director, Communications will oversee all communications including the development and implementation of a communications strategy and a broad and diverse range of business and marketing communications. This role will also direct and oversee the development and execution of statewide or federal branding and digital initiatives that help to transform and evolve the organization in a dynamic health care environment. In addition, the Senior Director, Communications will provide strategic counsel and a collaborative partnership for internal and external communications across a spectrum of platforms, and multiple departments in support of maintaining the corporate mission, brand, and goals.

  • Ensure the integrity of the corporate mission and brand in written communication and digital.
  • Oversee the execution of strategic federal, state, regional, or local public relations programs that support the organization’s marketing goals and key messages.
  • Lead annual communications strategy development and planning process in concert with Strategy and Government Relations initiatives to ensure a comprehensive, integrated plan that supports the Health Net Federal Services brand.
  • Oversee the ongoing execution of core digital initiatives and properties, including the external website, Intranet, social media, and paid media, if applicable through promoted/sponsored content.
  • Provide support for email, text, and online rewards-based programs, and other new initiatives as assigned, with the goal to position the organization as innovative through the use of technology to promote customer service, and engagement while keeping in mind the needs of all stakeholders.
  • Oversee content development for company presentations and select publications, working in collaboration with the department's creative team and other business partners as appropriate
  • Provide consistent and timely information to employees through various communications formats
  • Manage crisis communications/reputation management planning and response.




    • Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, or related field required. 8+ years of experience, preferably in managed care, insurance, or healthcare environment. Prior corporate communications or advertising/public relations experience required. Must possess strong writing skills, organizational abilities, and highly detail oriented. Knowledge of technical implementation of digital strategies preferred. 3+ years of management experience required.

    The ability to travel up to 20% of the time including out of state and overnight.
