P-3 Radar Operator NFO (Aircrew)

About this position

This flight crew position supports Air Test and Evaluation Squadron Three Zero (VX-30) P-3 flight operations at the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division (NAWCWD), Point Mugu, CA.  As part of the world’s largest independent flight test organization supporting both US Government and commercial agencies, you will be joining a highly talented and experienced KBR aircrew services team that has provided over 35 continuous years of mission critical flight test support to NAVAIR.  Applicant will be required to perform inflight duties operating equipment installed in P-3 Range Support Aircraft in support of Range Operations locally on the NAWCWD Sea Test Range and for Pacific Broad Ocean Area Operations.  Travel will be required and is estimated to be less than 20 hours per month.  Responsibilities include the development of test plans, pre-flight mission planning, mission briefing, flight crew duties during flight test mission support, and mission debriefing.  Naval Flight Officer experience in the P-3 Orion is required to execute various range support missions.  Most work will be conducted on-site at Naval Base Ventura County (NBVC) Point Mugu, CA however, some domestic travel will be required in support of flight test activities and detachments.  Sign-on bonus and relocation stipend available.



A bachelor’s degree with prior designation as a Naval Flight Officer required.  Three (3) years of experience performing as a RADAR operator, instructor, and Mission Commander is required.  Experience should include execution of Range Surveillance and Clearance, Airborne Telemetry, and Photometric data collection missions.  Instructional experience teaching new RADAR operators desired.


A minimum of 1,500 hours in the P-3 aircraft is required and 500 hours performing range support missions desired.  Past (required) or current (desired) designation as a P-3 Mission Commander (MC) is required. Candidate must be capable of completing the US Navy aviation physiology and water survival qualifications and maintain a FAA Class II annual flight physical.  Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
