Northrop Grumman Defense Systems sector is seeking a Strategic Planning Manager 2 to join our Sector Strategy team. The selected applicant will become an integral part of a team which provides corporate development, strategic planning, and portfolio management expertise to our Sector and Division leadership teams in McLean, Virginia.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the key value drivers and industry dynamics of the aerospace and defense sector. The selected candidate will support Defense Systems core objective to achieve sustainable profitable growth through the development and execution of innovative organic and inorganic business strategies.

Responsibilities:
  • Leads the annual strategic planning efforts
  • Conducts market assessments to include analysis of customer budgets, buying behaviors, and trends to identify potential market growth opportunities
  • Performs competitive analysis which will include identifying key trends, recent developments, competitive behaviors, and financial analysis
  • Models and analyzes support for business development pipeline reviews, business management annual operating plan analysis, and investment planning
  • Supports the Sector's inorganic growth strategy and leads M&A evaluations and execution


Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
  • Must have one of the following:
    • Bachelor's degree in technical or business discipline with a minimum of 9 years of combined experience with defense/aerospace business and/or government services
    • Master's degree in technical or business discipline with a minimum of 7 years of combined experience with defense/aerospace business and/or government services
  • Must be able to work on-site in McLean, Virginia
  • Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Top Secret security clearance
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience in strategic planning, corporate development, investment banking or management consulting
  • Experience conducting strategic planning and financial analysis
  • Master's degree in Technical or Business discipline
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to work across different levels of organization
  • Demonstrated experience to influence and build consensus
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Superior communications skills (written, verbal and presentation
  • Exceptional analytical, strategic, and critical thinking skills
  • Solid business and financial acumen (understanding of key factors that drive business operations and growth)
  • Talent in integrating disparate information into a concise actionable strategic recommendation
  • Extensive experience developing executive briefings and presenting to executive leadership teams
