Applied Materials Strategic Supplier Technology Group (SSTG) team is looking for a Supply Chain Enabling Technologist to lead strategic sourcing, technology road mapping, industry enabling and related project execution of critical architectural elements within the semiconductor equipment. An SCET within the technology source development team is a thought leader responsible for developing make-buy Sourcing Strategies and clear action plans spanning various facets of make-buy decision including direct sourcing, capacity consignment, Investments, IP licensing, etc to drive differentiable and sustainable value creation and value preservation for Applied Materials and its critical stakeholders.

In this position you will focus on leading internal engagements across Supply Chain, Engineering, IP & Legal, Applied Ventures while diving deep into the technologies and operations both from a Product and Supply Chain perspective. You will analyze trends involving the industry players – subcomponent vendors, customers and technology to develop strategies to reduce cost, minimize value leakage, utilize emerging and disruptive technologies, allowing Applied Materials to meet and exceed its business goals.

SSTG SCET Responsibilities

  • Derive sourcing roadmap from established technology roadmap within specific focus area (Process Power, Chemical Delivery or Specialty Materials (coatings, surface finishing etc)).
  • Conduct comprehensive environmental scan (supplier ecosystem, competitive benchmarking) to determine right sourcing strategies to meet the technology roadmap.
  • Develop multi-gen, make-buy supply chain program strategies and plans for a BU, department or project to satisfy internal clients
  • Drive organizational alignment on prioritization of strategic projects working with the stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain KPIs that are leading indicators of success of the strategic initiatives under taken.
  • Driving the vision/strategy all the way down to the actual project management of large, strategic projects across Applied Materials supply chain.
  • Quantify impact of strategic projects in terms of value created (market share, gross margin dollars etc) and frequently present to Senior Management Team to advocate and advance transformational strategies.
  • Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's/PhD degree in technical related field with at least 10 years of experience within Semiconductor fab/equipment industry
  • 5+ years of experience leading large cross-functional supply chain transformational programs

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA
  • Functional knowledge of supply chain enabling models
  • Subject matter expertise within the specific focus area (Process Power, Chemical Delivery or Specialty Materials (coatings, surface finishing etc) in the context of focus area’s impact to on wafer performance.
  • Experience establishing & maintaining KPIs to track and monitor performance and develop improvement plans
  • Experience preparing process workflows and associated documentation
  • Proven ability to influence others with experience communicating to and influencing senior leadership
  • Excellent creative thinking skills with emphasis on developing innovative solutions to solve complex problems that may not have one clear answer
