Job Summary

The Government and Economic Development Institute's mission is promoting effective government policy and management, civic engagement, economic prosperity, and improved quality of life for the State of Alabama and its communities. Under the direction of GEDI's Associate Director and project team leadership, the position will provide graphic and product design concept assistance to community entrepreneurs across Alabama wanting to establish a new businesses. The position works directly with prospective entrepreneurs in helping convert potential business ideas into concept and brand prototypes.

Essential Functions

Provide graphic and product design concept assistance to students and other entrepreneurs. Ability to communicate effectively in English with business owners and potential entrepreneurs with ideas. Ability to take verbally described concepts or ideas and convert them into visual and physical prototypes.

Minimum Qualifications

-Junior/Senior student majoring in Graphic or Industrial Design
-Excellent communication skills. Ability to speak English fluently
-Excellent organizational skills
-Excellent time management skills
-Ability to work on multiple project simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications

-Senior majoring in Industrial Design with experience helping businesses with brand identity and prototype development using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and CAD software.
-Excellent communication skills. Ability to speak English fluently
-Excellent organizational skills
-Excellent time management skills
-Ability to work on multiple project simultaneously

    Auburn University was established in 1856 as the East Alabama Male College, 20 years after the city of Auburn's founding. In 1872, under the Morrill Act, the school became the first land-grant college in the South and was renamed the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Alabama. In 1899 the name again was changed, to the Alabama Polytechnic Institute. Finally, in 1960 the name of the school was changed to Auburn University, a title more in keeping with its location, and expressing the varied academic programs and larger curriculum of a major university.

    Today, Auburn is one of the few universities to carry the torch as a land, sea and space grant university. Our fall 2014 semester enrollment was 25,912. Our students can choose from more than 140 degree options in 13 schools and colleges at the undergraduate, graduate and professional levels.
