Position Summary: Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey is seeking a Research Teaching Specialist III for the Pharmacology department at Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey ( CINJ ). The primary purpose of the Research Teaching Specialist III position, under direction of the Principal Investigator, is to assist with the organization, daily operation, research, and administrative duties in the laboratory. This includes designing and executing cutting edge experiments in understanding cell signaling in cancer biology and therapies as directed by the Principal Investigator. Among the key duties of this position are the following: Performs professional and scientific research in the areas of molecular and cell biology, especially with detailed knowledge of cell culture, molecular cloning, protein expression and immunological techniques. Experience with mouse models is a plus. Assists with routine research laboratory projects as directed by the Principal Investigator. Receives incoming supplies, opens, unpacks, and verifies that the number of items received agree with packing slip. Follows established procedures for processing paperwork and follow-up on orders. Develops and implements new lab protocols. Troubleshoots technical protocols. Assists with the training and mentoring of all new personnel in the lab (students, postdocs, technicians, etc). Minimum Education and Experience: Master's Degree in Biology or a relevant science plus (1) year related research experience, or a Bachelor's Degree in Biology or a relevant science plus two (2) years of related research experience. Equivalent experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the education requirements. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Demonstrated ability to organize assigned laboratory work and develop effective work methods. Demonstrated ability to follow laboratory safety policies and perform simple laboratory procedures. Effective oral and written communication skills. Computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
