Plant Operator - Military Veterans

Overview

Aggregate Industries, a leading supplier of quality, construction-building materials in the United States, and a member of LaFargeHolcim, has an immediate need for a Plant Operator to support hot mix asphalt production operations at our Bladensburg plant in Hyattsville, Maryland.   The position is primarily responsible for operating plant processing equipment, while adhering to all safety and environmental guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Operates the plant controls to produce asphalt according to the design of the mix
  • Monitors and records baghouse pressure and emissions
  • Adjusts controls to regulate the flow of materials
  • Receives and inputs orders
  • Performs preventative maintenance on systems to ensure it is in a state of readiness
  • Compiles reports regarding plant production, air quality and maintenance
  • Maintains awareness of the location of all trucks and personnel prior to releasing materials
  • May maintain inventory and/or advise plant managmenet of inventory needs
  • Communicates with road crews on an hourly basis to confirm orders.
  • Helps maintain the cleanliness of the site
  • Works closely with Quality Control to ensure the quality of product
  • Closely adheres to all Safety and Environmental regulations.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience operating a hot mix asphalt plant
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
  • Ability to compute rates, rations and percentages
  • Must possess basic computer skills in a Windows environment
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work Monday through Friday, and occasional Saturdays
  • Strong work ethic
