Principal Test System Engineer and Liaison

Role and Responsibilities

KBR has exciting opportunity for an EA-18G and Electronic Warfare Subject Matter Expert to support the Airborne Electronic Attack (AEA) Integrated Project Team (IPT) at Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division (NAWCWPS) Point Mugu, CA operations. The candidate will function as the AEA UPC Principal System Test Engineer and Aircrew Liaison.  As the Principal System Test Engineer, the candidate will provide leadership, oversight and guidance to the AEA UPC software test team of eight test engineers.  The AEA UPC software test team is responsible for testing the AEA UPC software as integrated into the F18E/F_EA-18G Mission Planning Environment (MPE) and various Foreign MPEs.  Responsibilities of the team includes test planning, development of test cases and procedures, execution of test procedures to verify the software requirements are met, documenting and analyzing deficiencies, tracking and statusing of defects at the Discrepancy Change Review Boards, and preparing test reports.

The candidate will liaison between US Navy Operational Squadrons, TYCOMS and the Airborne Electronic Attack (AEA) Integrated Project Team with some occasional travel to fleet concentration areas. This will encompass, but not limited to the following tasks:

  • As an integral member of the EA-18G AEA Mission Planning software engineering team, provide the aircrew perspectives and knowledge required to improve the mission planning software workflow.
  • Actively participated in the development and review of the EA-18G Mission Planning system software requirements, and design of the aircrew interface for the EA-18G H18 and Growler Block 2 (GB2) software.
  • Provided hands-on training on the EA-18G Mission Planning System to Developmental and Operational Test aircrew, as well as Fleet Users during Mission Employment exercises.
  • Functioned as a Fleet Liaison among Havoc, VX-31, VX-23, VX-9 and the Electronic Attack Weapon School at Naval Air Station, Whidbey Island, WA as a conduit between the software development, integration and test personnel and the EA-18G user communities. 
  • Participated at the annual Mission Planning Enabler Naval Aviation Requirements Group (eNARG) and the Electronic Warfare Naval Aviation Requirements Group (NARG).
  • Provide EW and EA-18G in-depth training to domestic and foreign aircrew and engineering personnel
  • Participate in the GB2 Upgrade Program in establishing and reviewing the functional baseline requirements.

The candidate will develop status briefings, participate in review boards, status meetings, and coordinate with internal/external agencies and customers. Candidate will participate in team meetings attended by other integration and test organizations, system developers, and other contractors, perform data analysis. The candidate will work within an integrated government/contractor team.



A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.

Experience/Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

Twelve (12) years of experience is required.

Experience in developmental/operational testing, writing test procedures, and test reports is required.  Experience with Microsoft Office products and working within an Integrated Product Team is required.  Experience with JMPS software, electronic warfare systems, EA-18G Pilot or Electronic Warfare Officer (EWO) and fleet experience is required.

Clearance Requirement: US Citizen and able to obtain and maintain Department of Defense (DOD) Secret security.
