Major Responsibilities:
Most rotations/assignments are short duration such that they can be completed within the assigned intern/co-op period. During each rotation period, the Intern will support unique departmental engineering assignments and responsibilities as required to support the overall manufacturing engineering/lean, quality assurance, and shop floor operations.

Specific projects/assignments:
The specific projects and assignments vary depending on the department to which the co-op is assigned. Most assignments are short duration such that they can be completed within the assigned co-op period. All assignments are intended to introduce and expose the Intern to product transition from the initial design through the manufacturing process. Intern may have the opportunity to develop and implement systems that assure product quality. Intern will manage, create, and update manufacturing data, including routing, fixturing, and tooling.

Past project assignments to co-ops/interns include:

  • Statistical Process Control implementation with a new software system
  • Documentation of Manufacturing Engineer Standard Job Instructions (requiring knowledge of the manufacturing process)
  • Documentation of manufacturing build history with manufacturing process planning
  • Data analysis from manufacturing related tests or automated data collection equipment
  • Fixture design (if the student has a solid mechanical design background)
  • Working with outside vendors to quote and order special equipment and sho aids to support manufacturing
  • Supporting ACE/Lean Improvement Events (Kaizens) and close out of their action items.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
  • Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident ___Green Card___ holder.
