The Staff Mechanical Engineer ___ Electric Power Distribution Packaging Engineer will perform engineering work specific to mechanical packaging of electrical/electronic power distribution products, including energy-efficient, light-weight and affordable components in conjunction with strategic component placement for power distribution systems. This work requires a mix of experience in mechanical design/analysis/testing related to electronic systems, electronic packaging, Printed Wiring Boards (PWB), Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs) and mechanical enclosures with design details implemented via formal design reviews and release of associated drawings.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Application of mechanical design principles to assess and resolve product and process issues throughout the product life cycle (design, test, and production) following standard work principles.
  • Lead specific technical assignments during investigation, design, or tests that require analysis and evaluation, selection and application of engineering principles, theories, and techniques.
  • Develop energy-efficient, light-weight and affordable electronic components for electrical power distribution systems.
  • Collaborate with thermal and stress engineering experts.
  • Participate in the investigation, development, and testing of product where overall operational, space, functional, and similar design requirements have been specified. Design or select available designs to meet requirements.
  • Generate, review and update the technical content of drawings, engineering specifications, reports, and other documents associated with the engineering process.
  • Assess requests on older drawings for clarifications or engineering changes to support continued manufacture of products.
  • Engage in troubleshooting issues on the manufacturing floor.
  • Provide technical directions and guidance in the form of assignment objectives, alternative approaches, root cause analysis, and solutions to junior engineering personnel and/or contract laborers.
  • Instruct and/or direct the work of technicians as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience in mechanical design or analysis of electronic systems, electronic packaging, Printed Wiring Boards (PWB), Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs), and/or mechanical enclosures
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, materials, dynamics, and heat transfer
  • Bachelor___s degree and 7 years of relevant experience OR
  • Advance degree and 5 years of relevant experience OR
  • In absence of a degree, 11 years of relevant experience is required
  • Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident ___Green Card___ holder

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Word/Excel/ PowerPoint
  • Ability to read / model in in NX/Unigraphics
  • Ability to read wiring schematics
  • History of continuous improvement and relentless root cause methodology
  • Knowledge in environmental, reliability, and safety requirements__
