Director (RN) - Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake is a full-service hospital offering a 531 bed inpatient and outpatient medical, surgical and specialty services. The campus includes Level II trauma capabilities, a Neuroscience Institute, The Heart & Vascular Hospital, a bariatrics program, the Breast Diagnostic Center, a wound care center, a level III Neonatal ICU, and the area’s only pediatric emergency department and pediatric ICU.

HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake is affiliated with HCA Houston Healthcare, part of the HCA Healthcare Gulf Coast Division. The division is a comprehensive network of hospitals, outpatient surgery centers, emergency centers and diagnostic imaging facilities in greater Houston, Corpus Christi and South Texas. Facilities include: 17 hospitals, nine ambulatory care centers, 13 off-campus emergency centers, and a regional transfer center.

What you will do in this role:

Provides criteria for evaluation of the Registered Nurse working in the Level II and III Nurseries (Transitional Nursery, Level II and III Nurseries).  The Neonatal Nursery Director is responsible for the department's continuous, effective operation and for the continuous improvement of its activities.
  • Responsible and accountable for nursing care rendered in the department, based on the Nursing Process--assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care.
  • Responsible for coordination and integration of intradepartmental services and interdepartmental services, which includes ancillary departments.
  • Assures development and implementation of policies and procedures in conjunction with the Medical Director of NICU and the Chairman of Pediatrics.
  • Responsible for determination of the qualifications and competence of personnel in the Neonatal Nurseries who provide patient care services and who are not licensed independent practitioners.
  • Assures continuous assessment and performance improvement of care and services provided in the Neonatal Nurseries.
  • Assures appropriate orientation and in-service training and continuing education of all personnel in the NICU.

Qualifications

What qualification you will need:
  • Current Texas licensure with Texas State Board of Nurses 
  • BSN Required
  • At least three years of NICU/Nursery experience and two years of management experience.
  • RNC Certification preferred.
  • Current BCLS certification from the American Heart Association required.
  • NRP Certification required within six months of hire.
  • STABLE Certification preferred.
