The HCA Access HealthONE Transfer Center handles the patient movement and logistics for eighteen HCA hospitals and free-standing emergency rooms across a nine state region including Colorado, Kansas, Wyoming, Nebraska, New Mexico, Texas, Montana, South Dakota, North Dakota. Located in Aurora, Colorado, our mission is to assist in the clinical placement and movement of critical patients both into and out of our facilities providing timely access to care for our patients when minutes matter the most.  The transfer center is staffed 24/7 with seasoned clinical professionals who collaborate between physicians, hospitals, and other immediate health care settings to coordinate the timely movement of high acuity patients such as STEMI, stroke, trauma, neonatal care, and so forth.  Our team is committed to the care and improvement of human life; impacting over 44,000 patients annually through support to hospital staff both for our HCA facilities and other facilities locally or in outlying markets.  At the HCA Transfer Center, we also assist in arranging transportation services when needed through connection with ground and air services.  Our goal is to provide comprehensive solutions that allow health care providers the ability to stay at the bedside with the patient while we assist in locating placement, transport, and other needed logistics for getting this patient the access to care that they need.

 
 
As a member of our team, you will: 
 

The Transfer Center Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Manager of the Patient Transfer Center in shift related operations through additional duties that include, but are not limited to:

  • Proficient in job responsibilities of  transfer coordinator;

  • Completes initial review of service inquiries  and recoveries and communicates results with director;

  • Makes him/herself available for on-call status in the absence of the manager;

  • Assists management with scheduling and covering open shifts;

  • Responsible for QA/QI of data, phone calls, and reports;

  • Assists with staff communication, provides updates and maintains standards;

  • Strives to improve current operations by identifying inefficiencies;

  • Meets with management regularly to effectively communicate and resolve issues;

  • Works as a liaison between staff and management;

  • Maintains Central Logic system by updating locations and providers as required;

  • Exercises good judgment in the absence of detailed instructions or in an emergency situation;

  • Sets a good example for staff by adhering to all office policies and maintains a positive attitude;

  • Brings problems or issues to manager’s attention in a timely manner;

  • Plays a vital role in emergency operations:

  • Must be proficient in EMTALA requirements;

  • Assist in data collection, monitoring, evaluation and analysis of data;

  • Assists in the development and implementation of protocols, policies and procedures

  • Practice and adhere to the “Code of Conduct” philosophy and “Mission and Value statement;”

Qualifications

Education and Requirements:

 
  • Graduate from an accredited ADN or Diploma nursing program; BSN Preferred

  • Current license to practice professional nursing in the state of Colorad0

  • Minimum 5 years acute care RN experience; ICU or ED Preferred

  • Prior Management/Supervisory Experience in a healthcare related field      

 

Helpful Experience:
 
  • Prior customer service experience

  • Knowledge of patient transfer related state and federal regulations

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate with employees, clients, and others.

  • Ability to set and follow priorities

  • Character to maintain strict confidentiality

  • Ability to self-manage by taking responsibility to initiate, assess, and take action as well as the ability to function calmly in stressful situations;

  • Knowledge of basic hospital services;

  • Basic typing skills, 30 wpm;

  • Basic personal computer skills;

  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills;

  • Positive, enthusiastic, helpful personality.
