Position Overview:

The Ultrasound Technologist works under the general direction of the Lead Ultrasound Technologist, the Supervisor and/or the Manager of the Women’s Center.  He or she independently performs general and OB Ultrasound examinations for subsequent evaluation and treatment by attending physicians in accordance with established rules of good practice and established policies and procedures. 

The Ultrasound Technologist serves as one of the first points of contact for our patients and exemplifies personal warmth and patient engagement, professionalism, is discrete, and offers solutions in anticipation of patient needs. Greets every patient verbally by phone or in person, with eye contact and body language that is welcoming and friendly. Functions as an integrated team member and works with clerical and physician staff to ensure patient needs are met, increase overall efficiency of the department, and collaboratively accomplish needed activities. 

This position may also be responsible for general office and miscellaneous responsibilities to ensure patient satisfaction and a smooth work flow.  This may include, but not limited to, front desk check-in, scanning orders, obtaining HIPAA forms, Advance Beneficiary Notices (ABN’s), financial waivers, charity care and uninsured information, and inquire on Advance Directive.

  • Required completion of a CAAHEP accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Post graduation experience as a Sonographer performing Abd/Pelvic/OB/Small parts ultrasound exams preferred.
  • Perinatal and Breast Experience preferred.
  • RDMS eligible - Abd and OB certification within 6 months of hire.
  • RDMS certification in Breast desired.
  • ARRT preferred.
  • Must have excellent customer service skills.


  • Has knowledge of PACs and EPIC including registration, scheduling, ordering, charging and reports as required to carry out job assignment.
  • Demonstrates skills and knowledge necessary to assess the age specific needs of the patients served and provide appropriate care.


  • Must have sufficient interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, families and staff, displaying tact, discretion and understanding in dealing with unusual situation and a variety of people.
  • Must have the ability to multi-task, prioritize, make decisions and work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Must have demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal or no supervision, accept change and handle stress in an appropriate manner.
