JOB TITLE: CAT Scan Technologist
SCHEDULE: Full time night shift with rotating weekends and holidays.
The Cat Scan Technologist performs a variety of CT procedures. Exercises professional judgment in performance of services following established protocols and maintains a demeanor complimentary to MLH standards and medical ethics. Provides appropriate care for all patient populations. Demonstrates ability to work independently in provision of services.
  • Performs CAT Scan procedures.
  • Verifies patient’s clinical history procedure, ensuring information is accurate, documented and available for use by a licensed practitioner.
  • Prepares patient for procedures; providing instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.
  • Actively participates in the identification of patients, confirming patient demographics, correct procedure, correct side and site, using active communication.
  • Selects and operates CT equipment, imaging and associated accessories to successfully complete an examination.
  • Positions patient to best demonstrate anatomic area of interest, respecting the patient’s ability and comfort.
  • Immobilizes patient as required for appropriate examination.
  • Determines applicable CT protocol.
  • Applies principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patient, self and others and in accordance with MLH Imaging Gently program.
  • Determines pregnancy status as appropriate and follow procedures to limit gonadal exposure.
  • Evaluates images for technical quality, assuring proper identification are recorded and resolves PACS QA issues.
  • May inject contrast material if credentialed by Medical Director.
  • Applies principles of confidentiality (HIPAA) to all hospital and patient matters.
  • Documentation and reporting of adverse events, utilizing Patient Safety Network (PSN).
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
  • Travel to and/or staff other Main Line Health (MLH) Radiology locations may be necessary on occasion to promote effective, timely and consistent delivery of Radiology services.
Advanced Imaging Capabilities: 3D Imaging:
  • Completed applications training for 3D Post Processing
  • Demonstrates competency in 3D Post-Processing protocols
  • Ability to utilize 3D Workstations in post processing of images
  • High level of familiarity with computerized technology
  • Thorough understanding of cross-sectional and vascular anatomy,
  • Works in collaboration with Radiologist(s) and Cardiologist(s) in post processing of images
  • Serves as a preceptor to other Imaging Technologists in educating them in post processing techniques
  • Attends ongoing continuing education programs related to 3D post processing.
  • Flexible in coordination of scheduling with other 3D technologists in assuring adequate staffing levels are met.
  • Graduate of JRCERT approved program in Radiologic Technology.
  • Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists ARRT (R) required
  • Advanced Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist ARRT (CT) preferred.
Licensures & Certifications:
  • IV certification preferred or certification must be achieved by end of training/onboarding process for continued employment.
  • BLS Certification by American Heart Association
  • Graduate of JRC approved program in Radiologic Technology
  • Recent-related CT experience preferred. Minimum one year recent CAT Scan experience preferred
