Job Responsibilities

Located in Branchburg, NJ.

The Project Controls Manager’s role is to ensure that Engineering projects obtain the services needed to achieve project goals related to cost, schedule and project controls. The Project Controls Manager will be responsible for all aspects of Air Liquide Advanced Materials (ALAM) project controls and reporting, including estimate development, cost control, progress measurement, schedule development and schedule control. The Project Controls Manager will support project managers and cost stewards with ongoing project cost and schedule analysis, reporting, forecasting, budgeting and change management.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide overall project cost, schedule, estimating,  progress measurement, and change management leadership and expertise
  • Create and maintain the Integrated Master Plan (IMP) and the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) for all projects (current and emerging) to ensure successful execution
  • Lead planning exercises, prepare and maintain EPC cost and schedule for capital projects
  • Ensure schedules generated for a project are fully integrated and resource-loaded in order to ensure the accuracy of projected staffing requirements.
  • Generate basis of cost and schedule, perform cost and schedule analysis and cost and schedule risk assessment (CSRA) for projects and provide cost and schedule confidence report
  • Measure project cost performance and progress
  • Set up, implement, and maintain project cost and schedule related key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Provide forecasts for schedules, costs and resources (internal and external) through trend analysis and historical trend research
  • Provide project managers with corrective actions regarding cost and schedule variances and impacts on project delays and opportunities
  • Assist project teams in resolution of issues involving cost, schedule, & contract changes.
  • Conduct cost and schedule review meetings and assist in developing alternatives to accommodate changes to project plans and communicate any deviations of current plan to the project team.
  • Review cost and schedules prepared by contractors to ensure appropriate level of details and structure are applied for effective progress monitoring and project control.
  • Revise schedules taking into account new variables including: missed milestones, project changes, and new events
  • Provide necessary coaching to contractor’s planners to insure the development of job plans that can be transposed into a workable cost and schedule that accurately links required tasks and specific resources that are necessary to complete an identified work scope.
  • Work with the highest regard for the safety and health of all involved. Understand and comply with all safety regulations and guidelines
  • Successfully complete all required trainings

 

Required Qualifications

Skill Set/Knowledge/Expertise:

  • BS Engineering with Master of Business Administration (MBA) preferred.
  • Project Management Certification (PMI) or similar preferred.
  • 7+ demonstrated experience in managing capital projects (> $50MM) in the specialty chemical or similar industry.
  • 7+ years of experience in project controls and scheduling, including resource estimation
  • 3+ years of experience in project portfolio and integrated master scheduling
  • Ability to prepare and deliver training on project controls and scheduling to a diverse audience
  • Strong analytical skills with a rigorous and methodical approach
  • Experience and proficiency in using planning and scheduling software such as Microsoft Project or Primavera
  • Experience and proficiency in cost estimating techniques and understanding of estimate accuracy at various project stages.
  • Working knowledge of high purity gas installation techniques, and practices a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret equipment schematics, PIDs, and construction drawings.
  • Effective verbal and written communication, with good mediation skills. Must be collaborative and comfortable working in a team environment.
  • Attention to detail; precision and accuracy are important.
