Job Description:

THIS POSITION IS NOT YET FUNDED. GDIT has a future opportunity for a Communications Manager position. The program is an Enterprise Service Center that provides comprehensive service management, operations and reporting capabilities. The overarching philosophy of the ESC is as a one-stop source for initiating and resolving all Service Requests (Request Fulfillment), developing and managing all related technology solutions, and continually enhancing the customer experience though continuous service improvement.

GDIT is looking for an accomplished and detail oriented Communications Manager and Technical Writer with the ability to create and manage the communications strategy and knowledge base for a fast-paced enterprise service desk environment.

Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Lead internal communications and execute overall internal communications strategy
  • Partner with multiple stakeholders on the development, execution, measurement and refinement of communication plans
  • Work closely with government stakeholders to ensure that communication efforts align with client standards and processes
  • Ensure technical documentation is accurate, complete, meets editorial and customer's specifications and adheres to standards for quality, graphics, coverage, format and style
  • Provide IT change management and problem solving for consistent documentation update, facilitation, coordination and communication management of issues
  • Create and maintain Knowledge Base (KB) articles, standard operating procedures (SOP), process guides, work instructions (WI), job aids, frequently asked questions (FAQ), short "How do I" videos, etc. in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Create, edit, modify and maintain version control of forms/documents and SOP to ensure timely updating of policies, procedures, process and the identification of risks
  • Interact directly with IT Staff and Customers to capture undocumented knowledge supporting a "learn once-share many" concept with GDIT and client technical staff
  • Coordinate with IT business owners and customers to provide subject matter expertise and guidance in order to ensure timely completion of documentation, testing, publishing and reporting for compliance
  • Report automated statistics of knowledge document usage, creation, updates, retirement, etc.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of experience in technical writing in an IT environment
  • Experience creating and executing communication plans
  • Exceptional communication skills with an emphasis on interpretation and documentation
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Ability to research, organize, create and maintain clear concise artifacts/documents
  • Ability to conduct interviews with subject matter experts and create technical and business documentation based on interview
  • Demonstrated ability to develop a vision and drive action plans to deliver results
  • Experience in communicating with senior level Government personnel, including agency executives.
  • Interpersonal skills to interact with IT staff and customers in a collaborative manner
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience working with the ServiceNow Knowledge Management (KM) application
  • Strong project management skills
  • ITIL Foundations certification
