Job Description:

Force Air Defense Trainer provides support to Naval Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center (SMWDC) Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) Division (SMWDC IAMD)by providing subject matter expert (SME) advice and assistance in the areas of Advanced tactical Training (ATT) Operational Suppport Tactical andOperational-level doctrine review and writing, Capability Analysis, Assessments and Experimentation.

Ideal candidatewill (depending on experience and background) fulfill one orboth roles (Senior Warfare AnalystorSubject Matter Expert) detailed below:

Senior Warfare Analyst, Aegis/BMD

• Required ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance; Desired ability to obtain TS clearance at start (investigation basis must be valid for 6 months after start date) and be eligible for SCI

• Required twenty (20) years (minimum) of military or relevant industry or government experience

• Required five (5) years (minimum) of experience aboard Navy cruisers or destroyers

• Required familiarity with operational and tactical doctrine, concept of operations, standard operating procedures, and tactics, techniques and procedures (TTP)

• Required qualification as Tactical Action Officer from an Aegis platform (must have signed qualification letter).

• Desired three (3) years (minimum) of experience (concurrent or sequential to 20 years military experience) teaching and/or instructing combat systems material in a formal classroom setting.

Senior Subject Matter Expert

• Required ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance; Desired ability to obtain TS clearance at start (investigation basis must be valid for 6 months after start date) and be eligible for SCI

• Required twenty (20) years (minimum) of military or relevant industry or government experience in the development, conduct, or training of tactics, techniques and procedures (TTP) to perform Naval air defense operations at the unit and Force levels

Additional Job Requirements:
  • Required five (5) years of experience aboard Navy Surface platforms capable of providing area/strike group air defense or equivalent aviation platform (E-2, AWACS)
  • Required experience and qualified in a watch station with the authority to employ the Aegis Weapon System (i.e. Tactical Action Officer (TAO) or qualified mission commander familiar with surface to air weapons coordination
  • Must possess a Tactical Action Officer Qualification letter
  • Required ability (and desire) to travel via boat or helicopter to embark on U.S. Navy ships
  • Required ability (and desire) to travel up to approximately 25-30%
  • Preferred experience reviewing technical and tactical documentation to identify sound tactics, techniques and procedures (TTP)
  • Preferred three (3) years' experience conducting both classroom and "over-the-shoulder" combat systems training
