Requisition Number: 2020-074 Business Unit: College of Medicine Department: Int Med Allergy/Immunology 50000597 Reg-Temp: Full-Time Regular Position Summary: This postdoctoral research associate position will be located in a laboratory which focuses on understanding the mechanisms by which intestinal dysbiosis regulates pulmonary host defense against bacterial pneumonia. Precisely, the project is focused on dissecting the effects alcohol-associated intestinal dysbiosis on the immunologic features that are critical for pulmonary host defense against bacterial pneumonia using mouse models. Our ultimate goal is to develop preventative and/or therapeutic approaches for alcohol-abusing individuals. Ongoing investigations seek to explore the mechanistic regulation of the gut-lung axis using microbiota-centric therapeutics for the treatment of alcohol-associated pneumonia. We are also actively investigating pulmonary immune cell trafficking in response to bacterial infection. Qualifications include a Ph.D. degree in Microbiology, immunology, molecular biology, biochemistry, biology, or related fields.
