Job Description:

The Nurse Manager directs, plans, organizes, and evaluates the Labor and Delivery and PNU Departments unit to comply with hospital and medical staff standards set forth by regulatory organizations (State, TJC, CMS, AHCA, etc.).  Integrates activities into the overall hospital organization.  Maintains efficient and effective operations by ensuring the coordination of services provided to patients, coordination of program activities with hospital administration, and management of budget and marketing functions.


Maintains responsibility for staff performance and the accomplishment of departmental responsibilities in accordance with corporate, hospital, department and safety policies and procedures to meet company and regulatory requirements.


This position requires a thorough knowledge of nursing, policies and procedures, and regulatory requirements.  The ability to assume responsibility and exercise authority is required.  Frequent interactive associations and managerial tasks are inherent in this position. The ability to retrieve, communicate and present data and information verbally and in writing is essential.  A professional demeanor and the ability to communicate effectively with patients, physicians and employees is essential.  The ability to maintain confidentiality of information is essential.


Experience required/preferred: (list required and preferred separately) 3-5 years experience in Nursing required, 1 year charge nurse or other nursing management experience preferred. 

Education required/preferred: (list required and preferred separately)
  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing preferred.
  • Bachelors degree in Nursing or equivalent preferred or working towards same.

Licensure/Certification: (list required and preferred separately) Current Florida Nursing License or Recognized Compact Licensure (subject to Florida State Licensing Requirements, including/not limited to ongoing eligibility and duration provisions). Certifications include current BLS, ACLS or agreement to obtain by 90 day probationary period. NRP and STABLE within the first 6 months. AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring course within first year of employment.
