ManTech has an immediate need for an Engineering Manager with systems engineering, Digital Engineering / Model Based Engineering expertise and management experience.  The SE&I Engineering Manager will provide systems engineering and integration, system architecture, and mission assurance expertise in support of the Space & Missile Systems Center Launch Enterprise (SMC/ECL) National Security Space Launch (NSSL) program (formerly EELV).  Candidates will need to be strong, proactive leaders who take the initiative to identify and solve customer problems and provide a wide variety of technical insight and thought leadership. This position is located within the El Segundo, CA area.

General Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of Engineers, Scientists and Technical Professionals to execute Systems Engineering and Integration across the Launch Enterprise
  • Facilitate modernization and automation improvements to realize efficiencies in the work process flow
  • Define alternative approaches to provide the customer a framework of ideas to mature concepts
  • Oversee a team supporting systems engineering processes (e.g. Systems Engineering, Configuration management, Data management and Data architecture, and review boards (e.g. CCB, TRB, Chief Engineer’s council.  May mentor and train others on Systems Engineering processes.
  • Facilitate support to enable the customer to achieve mission requirements as well as evolving the digital engineering environment to meet mission goals.
  • Oversee the development of systems requirements, SysML modeling, system interface specifications and establishing program baseline.  Includes being familiar with MATLAB, AFSIM, No Magic Cameo System, Teamwork Cloud and AWS GovCloud environments
  • Provide leadership to develop sound technical solutions for the customer and bridge support from the corporation as required.
  • Support the customer in defining, capturing, and maintaining the technical baseline
  • Perform and manage a variety of complex engineering tasks of an analysis, design, or test nature in one or more product/service areas requiring strong technical skills engineering disciplines.
  • Lead project teams across the organization, develop team members and mentor engineering and technical team as required.
  • Develop program guidance documentation and lead process improvements
  • Identify risks and assist with mitigation plans and approaches 
  • Support milestone and executive reviews. 
  • Coordinate meetings, teleconferences, and travel in support of customer meetings
  • Provide inputs to the Engineering manager in response to all calls for information regarding program activity, including weekly activity reports, information requests, and Congressional inquiries
  • Will supervise direct reports and/or matrix employees
  • Develop concise briefings for senior leadership.  Must have strong skills in Microsoft Office products – PowerPoint, Word and Excel

Basic Qualifications:  

  • Minimum, bachelor’s degree with 16+ years or a Master’s degree with 12+ years of systems engineering leadership experience.
  • Experience in launch systems and SMC acquisition background highly desired.
  • DoD SECRET clearance required to start with the ability to obtain & maintain a TOP SECRET clearance.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Demonstrated initiative, sound judgment, effective decision-making.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, and leadership skills.
  • Must be a team player with strong work ethic.  
  • High proficiency in MS PowerPoint and Office products required.
  • Active DoD TOP SECRET clearance
