- Curriculum and Instruction
- Manage the curriculum and instructional programs
- Collaborate with student services and faculty on recruitment, marketing, admissions, orientation, scheduling, grievance procedures, advising, retention, special services, awards, and graduation processes for the BSN program.
- Collaborate with the associate dean for prelicensure programs, clinical coordinators, and other program directors in the development of faculty assignments and course schedules.
- Responsible for curricular integrity to assure compliance with California BRN and CCNE standards
- Collaborate with the NCLEX success coordinator and other prelicensure program directors to develop and implement strategies for student preparation for the licensure examination.
- Supervise and evaluate faculty
- In collaboration with the faculty development coordinator, identify faculty orientation and professional development needs
- Actively participates in hiring full time faculty for the SoN
- Conducts or provides input for the selection of adjunct faculty
- Financial, Resource& Systems Management
- Provide information to the associate dean for prelicensure programs and budget director for macro budget planning for the BSN program
- Manage the program budget
- Collaborate with the dean and associate deans to manage external funding
- Work with the dean and associate deans to identify, evaluate, develop, and implement systems for the effective administration of the program
- Reports & Documentation
- Prepare accreditation and other relevant reports for the BSN program
- Represent the program, the SoN, and the university at relevant external conferences, workshops, and meetings

- Identify new program opportunities for nursing and draft proposals for their development and implementation
- Teach in area of expertise.
- Create a dynamic, learner centered environment that uses a variety of teaching methods that support the diverse learning needs of the student population and that are based on educational theory, and evidence-based teaching and clinical practices.
- Model reflective and critical thinking and serve as a coach and mentor for students; confer with them on their progress and assist them in the development of learning plans to facilitate successful achievement of course objectives.
- Maintain and enhance competence in subjects being taught.
- Confer with colleagues to assure the integrity of the courses across programs and the curriculum as a whole;
- Prepare and review written examinations, grade student papers and projects; supervise independent study projects as needed, and evaluate learner performance in both the classroom and clinical settings.
- Notify course manager of at-risk students or unusual occurrences.
- Supervise or teach clinical rotations as needed in acute, community and laboratory settings as well as internship/preceptorship courses.
- Document student progress on appropriate forms.

- Draw on extant literature to design evidence-based teaching and evaluation practices.
- Exhibit a spirit of inquiry about teaching and learning, student development, evaluation methods, and other aspects of the faculty role.

- Design and implement scholarly activities as agreed upon with his/her evaluator.

- Participate in university and SoN events as specified in University and SON attendance expectations.
Qualifications:
- Earned doctorate in nursing or a related field from an accredited institution of higher learning, required
- Minimum of three years of full time teaching experience at the baccalaureate or higher degree level, required
- Minimum of three years of experience in administration/management in baccalaureate or higher degree nursing programs, required
- One year of clinical experience within the last 5 years, per Board of Registered Nursing requirements
- Rank is commensurate with qualifications and experience
- Unencumbered California registered nurse license or eligible for licensure in California
- Experience working with leadership in healthcare and academic institutions and community organizations, preferred
- Experience with faculty and staff development, preferred
- Excellent written and oral communication
- Read and write clear documents
- Function effectively as a member of a team and independently
- Knowledgeable about the faculty role
- Create and sustain a culture of respect, cooperation, and innovation among faculty and students
- Express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word in person or on the telephone
- Receive detailed information through verbal and written communication
- Travel to relevant campuses and meetings, as required
