Job Description Summary
The Auburn University RFID Laboratory, which is affiliated with multiple colleges on campus, invites applications for the Managing Director of Retail, RFID Lab. This position will be a non-tenure track position within at the rank of Professor of Practice.
The Auburn University RFID Lab is a proven leader in RFID research and technology application. The lab collaborates with partners to develop specialized technologies designed to enhance RFID and serialized identification sensor capabilities and improve data capture systems in a variety of technology fields, and researches and promotes the business case and value of adoption in Retail operations and supply chain.
Duties and Responsibilities
In general, the director will oversee and manage the daily operations of the Retail ID Laboratory which is engaged in planning and performing analyses and tests required for research, development, and/or quality control. Additionally, full supervisory responsibility for other employees is a major part of the position and includes training, evaluating, and recommending promotion and similar types of employment decisions. Minimum Qualifications
- Successful candidates will have significant professional experience and expertise in RFID and identification technologies and familiarity with retail applications of the technologies.
- A proven dedication to managing projects and mentoring employees along with a demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with multiple constituents is highly desirable.
- A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is required at the time employment begins.
- The successful candidate must meet eligibility requirements for work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the term of employment.

Auburn University was established in 1856 as the East Alabama Male College, 20 years after the city of Auburn's founding. In 1872, under the Morrill Act, the school became the first land-grant college in the South and was renamed the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Alabama. In 1899 the name again was changed, to the Alabama Polytechnic Institute. Finally, in 1960 the name of the school was changed to Auburn University, a title more in keeping with its location, and expressing the varied academic programs and larger curriculum of a major university.
