Job Description

The position is for a Help Desk Analyst for the Ship Signatures SECRET Network. The Ship Signatures SECRET Network is a classified local area network (LAN) at the EB facility connected to a larger wide area network (WAN) at EB and Navy customer offsite locations. These networks are mission-critical for Ship Signatures staff and their collaborators to develop the stealth characteristics of US Navy Nuclear submarines.

The candidate will be responsible for:

  • Administering Windows Automation and Application deployments, specifically detailed deployments with LANDESK
  • Hardening and maintain desktops to DoD STIG settings, primarily for Windows and some Linux
  • Testing systems (daily, weekly, monthly) and performing pre-installation testing of new desktop hardware
  • Patching all desktop systems
  • Maintaining computer hardware, including desktop computers, and performing troubleshooting, repairs, new hardware installation and supporting new computer imaging
  • Maintaining desktops and peripherals, including troubleshooting and repair
  • Software maintenance (patches, license updates, installation, configuration, removal)
  • Providing desktop user support
  • Implementing security requirements and evaluating, testing, deploying and verifying Group Policy Object settings using Windows Server 2008R2/2012/2016
  • Collaborate with the Electric Boat's IT organization to execute project management activities and coordinate response to network outages
  • On call duties

Education/ Experience


  • Associates degree or Industry Certifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of Help Desk Support experience
  • Demonstrated understanding of and experience with Microsoft operating systems, Active Directory & Domain architecture
  • Experience assembling, imaging, testing, troubleshooting and repairing desktop computers


  • BS degree in a technical field (Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related) and / or technical certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+)



  • Demonstrated ability to work individually, within a team and with customers
  • At least two of the preferred qualifications below


  • Demonstrated experience with DoD Security Requirements and RMF
  • Scripting (e.g., Ansible, Batch, VBS, PowerShell)
  • 5+ years of work experience as a Windows Administrator
  • Advanced Certifications (Security+, CISSP, MCSE)
  • Experience with NTFS permissions, DNS, OS security, Virtual Machines, and systems patching
  • Experience with Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS)
  • Experience using systems monitoring software to collect and manage events and system status
  • Experience with IT Project management and execution
  • Unix / Linux administration
  • IBM Q-Radar and/or WhatsUp Gold experience

Unique Requirements:

  • Active DoD SECRET clearance, or ability to obtain DoD SECRET clearance
  • Lifting up to 50lbs as required, ability to relocate and move servers and network equipment.
  • Ability to bend, stretch, kneel to perform cable management. This requires attention to detail to properly install, label and appropriately route network cables.
  • Moves / Adds / Changes of computers when necessary.
  • Individuals must be able to physically lift, bend and crawl under desks.The candidate must have a keen focus on customer satisfaction, problem prioritization, time management and security compliance. The candidate must possess strong interpersonal, project management, organizational and communication skills, be able to work independently throughout the shipyard facility and offsite locations (including infrequent air travel), support occasional off-hours and weekend routine and trouble resolution events.
