Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or relevant curriculum required. Masters degree preferred. A Masters degree may be used to offset one year of experience; PhD may offset two years of experience. 8 years experience as a relational database professional. 4 years relational database leadership/management experience .

Position Purpose:
Responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the database environments and deliverables that support multiple concurrent projects, enhancements and defect remediation. Serves as first line of responsibility to ensure database environments meet business and application requirements. Ensures all databases are compliant with business continuity, data retention, availability, licensing and software support policies. Utilizing diversified knowledge and business experience, provides direction to subordinate employees, administers performance standards, schedules tasks and resources and ensures all work is completed according to defined cost, schedule, scope and quality criteria.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions: 1. Provides people, technical and policy leadership to database administration team and project teams. 2. Defines vision and strategy for optimized database environments to best meet the needs of the business and optimize costs in conjunction with the Chief IT Architect, Database Architects and Infrastructure and Application teams. 3. Establish requirements, operational objectives, and work plans for Database Administration staff members. 4. Manage activities through direct reports, exercise full oversight of priorities, methods, and staffing. 5. Guide, mentor, and encourage a team of Database Administration designers in the research, design, and development of Gulfstream's products and services. 6. Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop enterprise database strategies for High Availability and Data Safeguarding. 7. Evaluate and recommend new technologies. 8. Collaborate with Application Architects and Infrastructure Architects to ensure optimal system solutions. 9. Support user and system security objectives. 10. Support financial systems integrity and audit objectives. 11. Continually improve database and Database Administration services to provide 24 x 7 world-class support.

Additional Functions: 1. Presents database environment architecture to senior management when needed. 2. Proactively identifies opportunities to improve existing methodologies, processes or other areas of performance. 3. Proactively communicates issues and status as required. Perform other duties as assigned.

Other Requirements: 1. Experience with ITIL methodologies preferred.
