Provide day-to-day database support for development and test systems.
Provide database-related services to the application support team (Technical Analyst and Business Analyst) such as assisting in problem determination, troubleshooting, and scripting activities.
Communicate regularly with internal technical, applications and operational staff, as appropriate, in order to ensure the database integrity, security, and availability.
Create and update technical documentation to reflect changes in database techniques, procedures, and standards.
Provide guidance to less experienced personnel on functional and operational issues. Database Management System Installation/Implementation:
Monitor/tune DBMS system level operation/performance.
Perform database management activities including device and storage allocations, monitoring, security, integrity checks, re-organizations and scripting.
Optimize database performance through capacity planning, monitoring volume capacity, and performance tuning.
Audit user activity to ensure database integrity and perform housekeeping on defunct user accounts and historical data.
Maintain the database backup and recovery plan.
Perform database daily health check and provide troubleshooting.
Coordinate database change requests requiring third party implementers
1. Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field
2. At least 2 years experience in managing and supporting Unix environments such as Solaris, Linux, RedHat
3. 2 years experience in Oracle database administration - 9i, 10g, 11g
4. Ability to communicate technical issues
5. Familiarity with RAC and Data Guard
