Position Summary / Responsibilities:

 

We are seeking motivated, career and customer oriented Senior Project Manager, interested in joining our team in Arlington, VA, and exploring an exciting and challenging career with Unisys Federal Systems.

 

Provides team leadership and creativity in development and implementation of services engagements. Uses strong project management skills to lead the delivery of medium to large sized projects within planned timelines, budget, margins and quality specifications. Directs multiple and complex projects or sub-projects, including project financials. Directs the development and integration of project deliverables. Manages and leads large work teams (up to 50 or more architects, consultants and managers), sets objectives and priorities, assigns and reviews tasks, and identifies and manages staffing requirements. Manages performance, learning and development, and career paths for a team of people. Establishes strong client relationships, and leverages industry expertise to translate the client’s long-range business plan into a services strategy. Identifies and pursues new business opportunities within the existing client base.

 

Duties/Tasks:

  • Average 7-10 years professional service practice experience managing programs within the organization's industry, domain or program solutions. 
  • Prior work experience should include: 
    • Performing the job of an architect or solutions specialist, business development manager (or consultative selling /closing experience), project manager. 
    • A sustained record of developing new add-on, profitable business. 
    • Applying risk mitigation/management methodology when developing, capturing and delivering services. 
    • Developing relationships with a variety of clients in a broad range of industries. 
    • Obtaining in-depth knowledge of one’s area of specialization, field or technology. 
  • Successfully completed PMI or IPMA professional certification. 
  • Active participation in professional associations, industry roundtables, etc.

 

Requirements

Required Skills:

  • Project Management and Service Delivery 
  • Uses strong project management skills and delivery methodologies to lead the delivery of medium to large sized projects within planned timelines, budget, margins and quality specifications. 
  • Profitably manages the delivery of a large number and broad range of services and projects through the full services life cycle. Consistently and independently delivering high value, 'client ready' work. 
  • Directs multiple project work teams with delivery, architecture and sales staff. Directs development and integration of project deliverables. Sets objectives and priorities, assigns and reviews tasks, performance and staffing requirements. 
  • Writes accurate and effective statements of work so that both the client and Unisys staff understands the project expectations and roles. 
  • Provides leadership and creativity in structuring and delivering large client engagements, typically with multi-year contracts, multiple subcontractors and numerous deliverables. 
  • Uses appropriate methodologies (such as risk mitigation/management, change/control management and contract management) to manage major projects or a group of projects.
  • People Management 
  • Manages a team of people, including their training, development, performance and career path. 
  • Provides mentoring, performance feedback, training and professional development opportunities to help individuals within the practice reach their full potential. 
  • Builds a successful team through quality recruitment, selection, placement and deployment. 
  • Facilitates open and effective communications between employees and multiple levels of practice and sales management.
  • Business Development and Client Relationship Management 
  • Identifies and pursues new business opportunities that result in profitable revenue growth within the existing client bases, and sells (i.e., qualifies, forecasts, prices, negotiates) services within one's area of expertise. 
  • Evaluate the client's business strategy, objectives and requirements to identify new opportunities and conduct needs assessments. 
  • Establishes strong client relationships, and leverages industry expertise to translate the client’s long-range business plan into a services strategy. 
  • Interfaces with client’s senior management levels up to CEO/CIO level.
  • Business, Industry and Technical Skills 
  • Functions as an expert in one or more solution or industry areas. 
  • Demonstrates marketable expertise in at least one domain and/or solution set within an industry or organization and uses that knowledge to generate profitable revenue growth for Unisys. Has the knowledge of all areas to determine how the particular solution fits into the client's business. 
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with industry trade associations, regulatory organizations and key industry executives.

Position Requirements:

  • TSA BI Clearance
