Summary / Description

We are seeking a motivated, career and customer oriented Linux Administrator interested in joining our team in New Orleans, LA and exploring an exciting and challenging career with Unisys Federal Systems.

 

The Linux Administrator models and applies software or systems engineering methods and techniques to the design, definition, development, evaluation, integration, qualification and/or support of complex products, tools, or technologies in one or more areas of expertise.  May work independently or cooperatively with other engineers, often assuming technical and project leadership roles.  Considered a technical authority in a knowledge domain and may function as a technical consultant or researcher.

 

Key Responsibilities:
• Manage installation, upgrades, and application configurations of Linux systems. 
• Support enterprise Linux systems by providing system administration support to include installation, upgrades, and application configurations, patching, backup and tuning.
• Analyze performance indicators such as system response time, number of transactions per second, number of concurrent processes, resource usage such as CPU, memory and storage.
• Collaborate with the other server, SAN and application teams, identify operational characteristics, determining the presence of a problem, identifying possible solutions, selecting the most appropriate solution, and implementing that solution in a timely manner in accordance with Change Control Process.

Requirements

Average of 6 years implementation and planning experience in two or more areas of technology or application specialization or equivalent certifications and/or experience. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

 

Prior work experience should include:

  • proposing opportunities for follow-on business that resulted in new business.
  • sufficient exposure to clients across a variety of industries and domains
  • configuring and installing a wide-range of technology and COTS solutions and tools for clients that resulted in profitable revenue growth
  • experience in two or more project related roles such as implementer, integrator, test analyst, system administrator, tool specialist, support engineer, or architect.
  • knowledge and proficiency in infrastructure architecture, design, development and/or implementation techniques.
  • completion of the appropriate technologist learning discipline course sequence.  

 

Candidate must be able to hold and maintain a NACI Minimum Background Investigation Public Trust clearance.
