Senior Software Engineer/ Architect - Military Veterans

Summary / Description

We are currently seeking a motivated, career and customer oriented Senior Software Engineer/Architect to join our team in Reston, VA to begin an exciting and challenging career with Unisys Federal Systems.

 

In this role you will:

 

  • Serve as the Lead Engineer and Architect for the STIP DOMAIN application suite including the STIP Client.
  • Manage and lead the STIP infrastructure and software development team responsible for OEM integration, endpoint security solution development and integration, and Tier 3 support functions.
  • Act as the lead architect for the design, development, implementation and operational support for the relational database supporting STIP.
  • Act as client main POC on STIP architecture and design elements.
  • Attend client facing meetings, conduct presentations, and lead design and technical discussions outlining risks, issues, and recommended solutions.
  • Lead all phases of software development with emphasis on the planning, analysis, modeling, simulation, testing, integration, documentation and presentation phases.


Duties/Tasks and Responsibilities:

 

  • Lead overall solution design from planning through test and release
  • Lead team in development of critical deliverables and support documentation for Authority to Operate and SDLC approvals
  • Review and approve test plans
  • Draft and develop design plans and documents
  • Manage Tier 3 resolution support team on operational systems and software issues
  • Participate in design reviews including Preliminary and Critical Design Reviews (PDR/CDR)
  • Develop and manage a system/software problem analysis log/report
  • Active participant/member of risk management committee
  • Identify system and software risks
  • Develop and implement risk management strategies to address software related risks
  • Primary POC to TSA on software requirements and performance
  • Primary POC for design reviews

Requirements

Position Requirements:

  • Agile/DevOps experience using tools from the Atlassian suite including Jira, Confluence, and Selenium (or similar Agile tool-suite)
    • Java, J2EE, and Java Frameworks (i.e. Spring)
    • Open source tools such as Maven, Git, and Ant
    • SonarQube scanning tool
    • Cloudant NoSQL Database
    • DashDB QL Database
    • Impala SQL Interface to Document Store
    • Rapid ETL
    • Apache, Kafka, NiFi
    • Big Data Big Table SOLR HBase, Hadoop
    • Cloud migration support for Azure, AWS
  • U.S. CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED
  • Experience as lead engineer and architect for a federal security development application
  • Education/Experience: Master Science degree and twenty (20) years of IT software engineering experience including seven (7) years as an infrastructure lead, two (2) years of technical cloud support experience.
