Plant Manager (7287) - Military Veterans

Reporting to the VP of Operations, the Plant Manager will be located at the company’s manufacturing location in Medina, OH (Greater Cleveland area). The Plant Manager is responsible for the management and coordination of production in order to meet production schedules, quality, and cost objectives through direction of the production supervisors and plans and administers procedures and production and quality control standards. This position is an excellent opportunity for a results driven and people oriented leader.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing the overall daily production process.
  • Ensures adherence to defined quality and safety standards.
  • Trains and coaches team to meet defined productivity targets.
  • Assists with identifying and implementing process improvement initiatives.
  • Previews production and operating reports and resolve operational manufacturing and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
  • Develops and works with supervisors/line leaders in all areas such as problem solving, setting and achieving goals, manufacturing processes, scheduling, and equipment problems
  • Partners with engineering to improve the manufacturability of our products.
  • Provides technical support to shop operations in the areas of equipment, layout, tools, fixtures, and machines to ensure low-cost and high-quality products.
  • Encourages and promotes a plant culture of Continuous Improvement and Employee Involvement.
  • Oversight of:
    • Daily downtime log.
    • Insure waste is being properly marked and stored on the production line.
    • Ensure the closing of all production batches during shift.
    • Insure that all quality checks are being done and recorded.
    • Instructs and directs the line batching operator of the schedule and any changes in the schedule.
    • Train and cross train all employees on the production line, evaluate and review operators, and recommends/initiates disciplinary actions.
    • Perform task of putting in lot codes, box codes and the print and apply.

Requirements

  • Degree is highly preferred, BSME Packaging, Chemical Engineering or related technical discipline preferred
  • 6 to 10 years related manufacturing experience in liquid filling. (Filling / packaging / bottles/ cans/ filling containers)
  • Acceptable industries: beverage, dairy, brewing, food, or other high velocity consumer goods filling experience
  • Experience with chemical batching and/ or filling lines

  • Experience managing greater than 50 FTE’s.

Knowledge – Skills – Abilities

  • Overall knowledge of machinery, strong leadership and communication skills (both oral and written).
  • Acceptable industries, beverage, dairy, brewing, food, or other high velocity consumer goods filling experience
  • Experience with chemical batching and/ or filling lines
  • Safety
  • Knowledge of chemical processing highly desirable
  • Understanding of test methods for interaction with quality and batch supervisor
  • Progressive understanding of human capital management.
  • Experience managing departmental budget and maintaining key financial and performance metrics.
  • Experience Meeting Production Schedules, Controlling & Improving Line Efficiency
  • Lean manufacturing, JIT/TQM/ CI Concepts and Skills, in team building, quality control and assurance, and task training a significant asset
  • Strong attention to details, organization ability and ability to interact well with others.
  • Exhibits professionalism.
  • Ability to work well under limited supervision.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to understand and solve manufacturing problems and dimensional or calculation errors.
  • Must have strong Microsoft Office skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in a chemical manufacturing plant environment.
  • Occasionally may be required to reach, squat, bend, and lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Overtime will be necessary
